New Years Eve is nothing but a good excuse for Amy and I to have our good friends over for a great meal…. with great wine. We’ve been doing it for the past few years and they have been the best NYE’s that I can remember.
We have served duck a couple of times…. beef tenderloin a couple of times….. this year its Beef Bourgogne. We are having a low key dinner this year.
Amy and I have cooked anywhere from a 3 course meal to a 7 course meal for 8-16 people. Our wine Nerd, David, pairs a wine with each course. Lots of food and lots of booze, we have a great time and it usually works out to about $50 per person. That’s a far cry from the cost if we were to go out on the town.
Hosting such a dinner is mostly positive…
- Great Friends
- Great Food
- Great Wine
- No crowds
- No waiting around for a taxi
- We have to watch the girls dance
There are some draw backs but they are totally out weighed by the positives…
- Clean up the next day is a real bitch.
- We have to watch the girls dance
Hope your 2007 was great and will only be surpassed by 2008!
