… check that…. my neighbourhood is like an ice rink and its not getting any better.
We had some snow in Toronto last week… the narrow streets in my neighbourhood got a decent amount, maybe 20 cm. This wouldn’t usually be a huge problem but we haven’t seen a snow plow or even a salter in ages (maybe after the previous snow fall). To complicate the situation temperatures went up for a day and then we had a flash freeze. Everything is now ICE. There are ice tracks down every street and only a single car can pass at a time.
This sucks for driving and parking, I’ve gone out to push 3 cars in the past 5 days that couldn’t get out of a parking space or just got stuck in the middle of the street. This is even worse for running. The roads are so icy and bumpy that I can’t run on them and there are so many people who didn’t remove the snow from their sidewalk so now the sidewalks are like rolling , bumpy death traps.
The city has bi-laws about clearing sidewalks but as near as I can tell they are not enforced. As I run over a sidewalk that hasn’t been cleared I curse the homeowner….. JERKS
